Lest We Forget .....

I always get up early but most days I wish I didn’t.

Today though was an exception because I put out my flag for Memorial Day, got my swim laps in before the sun rose, took my shower and headed off to the National Cemetery in Phoenix. It’s always a wonderful sight, albeit a sobering one, to see a flag on every grave and I like to get there early when it’s as quiet as it’s going to be.

Both on the drive up there and coming home I did some thinking on a subject that was triggered by something I read yesterday.

We do have things to thank Obama for but they’re not the ones his disciples had in mind.

For a start he and his Chicago thugs have destroyed the Clinton political machine - Driving a stake through the heart of Hillary's presidential aspirations - something that no Republican was ever able to do.

Remember when a Hillary Presidency scared the daylights out of you?

Actually, to me right now it doesn’t sound all bad but I digress.

Obama killed off the Kennedy Dynasty - No more Kennedy's trolling Washington looking for booze and women wanting rides home. American women and freedom are safer tonight!

Hussein Obama is destroying the Democratic Party right before our very eyes!

Dennis Moore had never lost a race - quit
Evan Bayh had never lost a race - - quit
Byron Dorgan had never lost a race - quit
Harry Reid - - - - - - soon to be GONE

And who can forget Arlen Specter?

These are just a handful of the Democrats whose political careers Hussein Obama has destroyed !

By the end of 2010, dozens more will be gone including the shameless Bart Stupak of Michigan.

In December of 2008, the Democrats were on the rise. In the last two election cycles they had picked up 14 senate seats and 52 house seats. The press was touting the death of the conservative movement and the Republican Party. In just one year, Hussein Obama put a stop to all of this and will probably give the House, if not the Senate, back to the Republicans.

Hussein Obama has completely exposed liberals and progressives for what they are. Every generation seems to need to relearn the lesson of why they should never actually put liberals in charge.

Hussein Obama is bringing home the lesson very well.

Liberals tax, borrow & spend - - - - - - - - - - - - -check
Liberals won't bring themselves to protect America - - check
Liberals want to take over the economy - - check
Liberals think they know what is best for everyone - - check
Liberals aren't happy, till they are running YOUR life - check

Hussein Obama, has brought more Americans back to conservatism than anyone since Reagan. In one year, he has rejuvenated the conservative movement and brought out on the streets millions of freedom-loving Americans.

Name me one other time in your life that you saw your friends and neighbors this interested in taking back America!

Obama's amazing leadership has sparked the greatest period of sales of firearms and ammunition this country has seen. Law abiding citizens have rallied and have provided a "stimulus" to the sporting goods field while other industries have failed, faded, or moved off-shore.

In all honesty, one year ago, I was more afraid than I have been in my life. Not of the economy but of the direction our country was going. I thought Americans had forgotten what this country was all about.

My neighbors, friends and strangers alike, proved to me that my lack of confidence in the greatness and wisdom of the American people was flat-out wrong. When the American people wake up, no smooth-talking-teleprompter-reader, can fool them!

As I drove away from the cemetery in Cave Creek, I had another thought.

I was glad that Obama was not here nor at Arlington on this sacred day treading on this or other sacred grounds.

He does not deserve to go there.

Ever!

When the government fears the people there is liberty. When the people fear the government there is tyranny.

The first material reward I ever earned from writing stuff was about 25 years ago for a competition in San Francisco. The task was to name the three people one would most like to have dinner with and, more importantly, why.

Well, my choices were Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill and Thomas Jefferson and I chose them because they were so different. Clearly though, controversy swirled around all three both during their lives and after their deaths but for largely different reasons.

In the case of Thomas Jefferson despite his authorship of the “Declaration of Independence” which cited the equality of all men, critics harp on his ownership of slaves and his dalliance with one Sally Hemings. However, it was a different
place and time and we must view the man in this light.

And yet, Jefferson himself well understood the principles of government and the governors and the governed and the relationship between them all. And so many of Jefferson’s words ring so true today.

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe , we shall become as corrupt as Europe .

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes a principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

And finally try this one from 1802:-

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property - until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'

Comment from me or anyone else would be superfluous.

Semper Fi.

So many people have asked me how long does it take to write a post for this Blog.

Perhaps I’m lucky because the writing is the easy bit. What takes much, much longer is the research.

Then when something like the following shows up in my inbox, I get a day off.

The author lives in Arizona and I got it from a friend in Santa Rosa, California and I am indebted to both. It is reproduced here without edit and without comment.

I'm 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired.
Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I'm tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it's all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think it's very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I'm tired of a news media that thinks Bush's fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama's, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush's military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance. I

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I'm tired of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, "Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military.... Those are the citizens we need.

I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I'm tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the "Illinois Combine" of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet. I

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter.

I know how the guy feels but I haven’t given up fighting yet as witnessed by this Blog.

And neither has he because he’s still a United States Marine and he always will be.

Today I am a Man!

Obama’s political brain is in Israel.

Note that I said his brain; not his sympathies nor his loyalties but just the brain.

Which is, of course, Rahm Emanuel who it seems is in Israel attending his son’s Bar Mitzvah.

And it shows because of the firestorm surrounding his boss. And it’s not just one firestorm but a whole conflagration.

Today, Obama held a press conference for the first time in months. And without the questions upfront and the wordsmithed answers in the teleprompter or without Rahm to coach him, He, Obama, was lost and these were not even hard, tough questions.

The hardest one came right at the end when Major Garrett of Fox News asked about Joe Sestak but even he did not link that name with another accusation involving Andrew Romanoff of Colorado.

On Sept. 27, 2009, the Denver Post reported that the Obama administration offered Senate candidate Romanoff a position if he canceled plans to run for the Democratic nomination against incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet. The paper said the job offer, which specified particular jobs, reportedly was delivered by Jim Messina, Obama’s deputy chief of staff.

One position the Post cited was a job at USAID, the foreign aid agency. Messina contacted Romanoff soon after news leaked in August 2009 that Romanoff, former Colorado House speaker, would make a primary run against Bennet.Romanoff turned down the offer and announced his candidacy.

Obama then endorsed Bennet, who had been appointed in January 2009 to fill the seat vacated when Ken Salazar became secretary of the Interior. But Romanoff trounced Bennet at last weekend's Colorado Democratic assembly, winning the top line on the August primary ballot.

The White House denied that Romanoff had been offered a job.“Mr. Romanoff was never offered a position within the administration,” said White House spokesman Adam Abrams. Nevertheless, the Denver Post disclosures may have worked against Bennet. “People in Colorado have an adverse reaction to the external forces coming down and telling them how to think,” said Colorado state Rep. Kathleen Curry, a Romanoff supporter.

And the Post observed: “The timing of Messina’s latest intervention sparked particular concern — because of the appearance that the administration was trying to buy off a nettlesome opponent, to some; to others, because the timing made the effort appear so ham-handed.

”Earlier in 2009, Colorado Democrats recommended Romanoff for a position in the administration, spokesman Abrams acknowledged. But he said that, although “there were some initial conversations, no job was ever offered.

”Observers are taking a fresh look at the Romanoff story amid ongoing controversy over Rep. Sestak’s claim that he was offered a position in the Obama administration in exchange for dropping his primary challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter. Sestak said the offer came in July 2009, a month before he announced his candidacy.

Fellow Democrat Dick Durbin of Illinois, the Senate majority whip, has called on Sestak to say more about the job offer. Republicans, meanwhile, are pressuring the White House to divulge details about the offer.

Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has gone so far as to suggest a criminal probe in the matter. Issa issued a statement saying: “For months, a United States congressman has stated that the White House offered him a job in exchange for not running in an election. We call this a bribe.“Despite being asked numerous times, the White House has not refuted Congressman Sestak's allegations, but refuses to disclose who offered what and when".

So this administration, that pledged to be a beacon of transparency and change, continues to conceal from the American people the truth about what exactly was said and offered.

“Until we get direct answers, this White House doesn't have a leg to stand on when they talk about openness and change.”

Anyway, Obama’s response to the question about Sestak, was to promise a “frank and complete rebuttal of all allegations of wrongdoing”.

Eventually!

"When we figure out what it is and how we make Obama not look like a 13-year old who hasn’t done his homework but was busy with his Hebrew lessons."

Or something or anything.

Oh, I know! The dog ate it.

Naughty Dog

Remember, Remember it'll soon be November

After their admission that they haven't read the Arizona immigration enforcment law, here's a recommended reading list for Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano

Perhaps we can’t expect the average Joe to have read the equivalent federal statute but surely we can expect the 3 top people in this regime charged with enforcing the law and border control to know what it is they’re supposed to be enforcing.

And just to make it easy on the three of them, I've culled it down to Cliffs Notes dimension.

The Supreme Court has stated clearly and often that the U.S. Constitution gives Congress “plenary power” over immigration policy, meaning that Congress has virtually unlimited authority to regulate immigration into the United States. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution says that federal law supersedes conflicting state law. In immigration matters, the courts have consistently held that this means that states may enact immigration-related laws that go as far as, but no further than, duly enacted federal laws, except in areas where Congress has specifically preempted state action.

The Arizona law was drafted meticulously to ensure that it complies fully with the U.S. Constitution and with federal immigration laws and no further. So try these on for size:-

The Arizona law (SB 1070, as amended by HB 2162) — don’t worry, it’s not that long, so it shouldn’t take more than an hour to read, and that’s if you read every single word. You really should read it, though, before you publicly state whether it is misguided (President Obama) or unconstitutional (AG Holder), or whether you would have vetoed it (Secretary Napolitano). For folks like Rep. Grijalva, reading it probably won’t make much difference for you, since your goal is open borders, rather than the rule of law.

Pay special attention to the FOUR separate prohibitions on racial profiling in the bill (11-1051(B); 13-1509(C); 13-2928(D); and 13-2929(C))

Also note that the only individuals who are authorized under the law to determine an alien’s immigration status are: (1) ICE officials; (2) CBP officials; and (3) law enforcement officers “authorized by the federal government to verify or ascertain an alien’s immigration status.”

8 U.S.C. 1302—This is the federal law, first enacted in 1940, that requires every alien over the age of 13 who plans to remain in the United States for 30 days or longer to register with the federal government and be fingerprinted.

I know I was.

8 U.S.C. 1304—This is the federal law that requires that “every alien, eighteen years of age and over, shall at all times carry with him and have in his personal possession any certificate of alien registration or alien registration receipt card issued to him” by the Federal government.

I know I did.

8 U.S.C. 1373—This is the federal law, enacted in 1996, that prohibits states and localities from enacting or adopting so-called sanctuary policies that prohibit state or local officials from communicating with Federal officials regarding the legal status of individuals with whom they come into contact while performing their official duties.

It also requires federal immigration authorities to respond to all inquiries by state and local officials about the immigration status of individuals. This section is the reason that the Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC) was created—so that ICE officials would be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to verify the immigration status of individuals at the request of state and local law enforcement officials for a duly authorized purpose.

So Mr. Obama, Mr. Holder and Ms. Napolitano be aware that there will be a short quiz on the first Tuesday in November.

Fantasia!

You have always been able to rely on Hollywood for fantasies and not just the ones on the screen in glorious Technicolor.

Go back to the early part of the last century and many of the denizens therein were convinced that revolution was just around the corner.

Then fast-forward to the present day and we find the likes of Charlie Sheen, an unashamed “truther”, who keeps writing letters to Obama demanding an inquiry into his conviction that the United States government was in cahoots with the 911 terrorists or, at the very least, knew of and encouraged the plot in order to justify a war.

The latest in the long line of freaks is Woody Allen who is insisting that Congress be disbanded which, superficially at least, does have some pragmatic merit, but then Woody really goes off the rails by suggesting that Obama be allowed to “be a dictator for a while” in order to get things done.

For a start, Mr. Allen is Jewish and should be able to recall what can happen when a people relinquish control and restraint on a political figure. Furthermore Mr. Allen, do please tell us when any dictator has been willing to step aside after “a while” or ever unless forced to by revolution or coup?

The timing too is just as curious as is the idiocy of the message itself.

Ever since the “Immaculation” back in January of 2009, the Obama regime has controlled every aspect of the federal government and thus, for all intents and purposes, he has been a dictator. And it has always sounded odd when the Democrats on Capitol Hill complain that they have had no cooperation from the GOP. The fact is, until very recently with the election of Scott Brown, they didn’t need it.

Then last Tuesday, the drumbeat grew even louder but with a new twist as the backlash against incumbents on both sides of the aisle became manifest when Rand Paul beat out a rival who was being backed by Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, Dick Cheney and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Those who were thrown out and those who didn’t heard the message loud and clear but did they listen?

And elsewhere in the Democratic party, Obama’s stamp of approval meant diddly to the voters in Pennsylvania and Arkansas where outsider candidates ended the 30-year career of Arlen Specter and pushed Blanche Lincoln limping into a runoff.

There was a lonely bleat of cluelessness from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) which congratulated itself on the hollow triumph of holding the seat of the late John Murtha of Pennsylvania. Marie Antoinette had nothing on it. Could the DCCC really have missed the fact that Mark Critz held on by opposing healthcare reform, denouncing cap and trade, embracing the Second Amendment and his state’s gun culture and standing against abortion?

That’s hardly a vote of confidence in Pelosi, Reid and the Great One.

So where does this leave the regime come November?

Despite a growing GDP, 3 out of 4 voters say the country is still in a recession and only 2% think the recession will be over by November. More than half of the country believes we’re on the wrong track as a nation, an assessment that has darkened over the last few months and congressional approval is at its lowest ebb in a quarter of a century.

Seat counting is the sport of the Beltway insiders, the pastime of a permanent party worried more about preserving its power than doing anything useful with it.

If all politics used to be local, now all politics is personal. Rand Paul has no more allegiance to GOP strategy than his maverick Dad. Among Democrats, there isn’t even a consistent lineup of interest groups behind the incumbent killers. Big labor, for instance, lined up with Specter and against Lincoln.

What will all this do?

What it is already achieving in abundance. It will communicate the headaches and heartaches of the American people to the grandees within the gates of Washington but will they listen?

They rarely have in the past.

The Apology Tour Comes Home!

A couple of posts ago I said that I felt I was about to encounter a little English girl in a blue dress and a talking white rabbit sporting a pocket watch. Well the Wonderland feeling is even more acute now as I witnessed the verbal gyrations of one Felipe Calderon.

The day after his arrival, his program began with a speech to a joint session of Congress in which he trashed the United States in general and Arizona’s new law in particular. Needless to say, that led to rapturous applause on the part of the Democrats and a stony silence on the part of the GOP members present.

All this came hard on the heels of the welcoming ceremony at the White House the day before. In his speech then, Senor Calderon strongly criticized Arizona's controversial
immigration law, following his arrival in Washington to attend a state dinner in his honor

Speaking through a translator at the welcoming ceremony, Calderon called for "a border that will unite us instead of divide us," and then noted that Mexicans are "still living here in the shadows." He said the Arizona law "is forcing our people to face discrimination."

In the joint press conference after the two heads of state talked, Calderon again turned to the law, saying his country rejects the criminalization of immigration.

Any President of the United States worthy of the title would not stand by idly and hear a foreign head of state trash an American state and its people. But Obama did and he even joined in the barrage when he stated he thinks the policy is misguided and again expressed that the Justice Department is close to submitting its examination of the law to see if it violates civil liberties or the Constitution.

Obama called the law, which makes it a state crime to be an illegal immigrant, a "misdirected expression of frustration with our immigration system that has raised concern in both countries," and later said he thinks it has "the potential of being applied in a discriminatory fashion."

Before his election in 2008 and afterwards Obama flew around the world apologizing for this country but now it seems he’s going to minimize his carbon footprint and simply carry on the “mea culpa” process without burning copious amounts of Jet-A. All he needs is a visiting dignitary as a straight man.

Then in the evening Calderon was interviewed on CNN by Wolf Blitzer who for once asked some very pertinent questions and got some truly amazing answers.

The dialog which follows speaks for itself:-

BLITZER: So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, they can just walk in?

CALDERON: No. They need to fulfill a form. They need to establish their right name. We analyze if they have not a criminal precedent. And they coming into Mexico. Actually...

BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?

CALDERON: Of course. Of course, in the border, we are asking the people, who are you?

BLITZER: So in other words, if somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America, through the southern border of Mexico, they wind up in Mexico, they can go get a job...

CALDERON: No, no.

BLITZER: They can work.

CALDERON: If -- if somebody do that without permission, we send back -- we send back them.

BLITZER: You find them and you send them back?

CALDERON: Yes."

Just as a footnote to this illegal immigrant business, have you heard about the Pakistani who helped the Times Square bomber?

This gentleman entered the United States illegally in 1991 and took up residence in Boston, Massachusetts. There he applied to that city for a licence to drive a cab and even admitted he was here illegally. The police department took no action and so ever since he’s been driving people to, from and around Logan Airport from whence some 911 terrorists departed.

Note that he is not from Mexico or Guatemala and he did not come to wash dishes nor “to do jobs which most Americans won’t do”.

Even Lewis Carroll couldn’t make this stuff up.

I can see November from my house!

A couple of years ago liberals were wetting themselves after Tina Fey did the spoof of Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live”. Indeed it took on a life of its own to the extent that some, eager to deride Governor Palin whenever and however they could, convinced themselves that the quotation was real just as they convinced themselves that Obama was actually going to transform the political scene.

Well, they were almost right. He has transformed many aspects of American life but not for the better and the recent spate of elections show it.

Nevertheless this White House never ceases to amaze me.

How can any sane, rational human being claim yesterday’s election results were not a rebuttal of Obama and his policies and yet that is precisely what happened this morning. The spin doctors tried to claim that the stunning trend was a statement by the voters that they were tired of “Washington as usual”.

So far so good but then they had the chutzpah to try to say that was precisely in line with that which the Anointed One had been doing all along.

Huh?

Then how come Democratic pollster Doug Schoen said that, “The election results are showing a strong “anti-Washington” and “anti-Obama” vote.”With news that Obama-backed Arlen Specter was defeated and tea party favorite Rand Paul won, Schoen suggested that establishment candidates will be under fire this November.

He said that the tea party’s power “can’t be underestimated” and that the GOP should benefit this November because the Democrats control Congress and the White House.

This isn’t new. It first became apparent when “Ted Kennedy’s” seat was taken by Scott Brown and has been echoed by every opinion poll since. Then last night it was rammed home by the ousting of Arlen Specter.

"Remember Popeye, who used to say, 'I am what I am'? I don't think anyone could dress me in different attire. I am what I am," Specter told reporters before the polls closed.

And the voters did just that, they remembered. They remembered a man who knew he could not survive a primary vote as a RINO, Republican In Name Only, when he was bound to be faced by new blood. So he switched parties.

But still those stubborn voters would not relent and they remembered why he made the switch and Specter's gamble that Democrats would embrace him for what he was didn't pay off, as his primary opponent,
Rep. Joe Sestak, claimed momentum in the closing days of the race and never looked back.

Governor Edward G. Rendell (D-Pa.), Specter's longtime friend and close political adviser, said after Specter's concession speech that the opponent did not matter, and that the only thing Sestak did right was picking a "great ad" company, a reference to the Sestak consultants who previously worked for Rendell.

Oh Really?

The real truth is somewhat different and the final straw with Republicans came in February 2009 when he voted for Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan, one of three
GOP senators to put the legislation over the top. Toomey, whom Specter had narrowly defeated in 2004, soon entered the race for a rematch as Specter's support plummeted among the party's conservative electorate.

Well now he’s gone and it seems likely that another” senatorial wannabe” could soon follow him into the wilderness except this guy never really got started.

Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut attorney general is seeking to replace Senator Chris Dodd and on several occasions has publicly boasted of his past involvement in the Vietnam War in front of veterans across the country.

The only problem is that he never went to Vietnam but signed up for 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserve and every one of those 6 years were spent here in the United States.

Remember how President George W. was castigated and hounded by the liberal media for his Air National Guard service? Now, judge that how you will but he never claimed to be where he wasn’t.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam. And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it—Afghanistan or Iraq—we owe our military men and women unconditional support,” Blumenthal is documented as saying.

“Too many have sacrificed too much to have their valor stolen in this way,” said former U.S. Rep. Rob Simmons, who is seeking the U.S. Senate Republican nomination.

Five months and counting till election day. I think I’ll go to bed early in order to speed it up just as I used to on the eve of my birthday when I was a kid.

Sentence First, Trial Later

A few weeks ago I went to see the new “Alice in Wonderland” movie; the one with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. While it didn’t have too much in common with the book I loved as a child, there was one congruence namely that it portrayed a topsy-turvy world where up was down, true was false and real was imaginary.

Well I keep looking for the rabbit hole and the Cheshire Cat because fact is looking more and more like fiction.

Perhaps someone can explain to me where it is written down that profit is private and debt is public. Let me explain.

It doesn’t seem to matter whether we are talking about Greece, General Motors, Goldman Sachs or some other G Spot, one central fact remains. When they are making a profit, they get to keep it but when the ink turns red then all of a sudden it’s my fault and my problem and some latter-day Robin Hood wants to rob me in order to pay them.

Now before someone wants to point out that Goldman Sachs was not bailed out directly by taxpayers, but instead received tax dollars as a creditor of AIG, Goldman received $12.9 billion in the “backdoor bailout” of AIG because of the credit default swaps it owned that AIG had insured. Goldman and other of AIG’s counterparties were paid by the government 100 cents on the dollar in this bailout, whereas creditors in bankruptcy court often get less than 50 cents on the dollar.

It was about this time that the phrase “too big to fail” crept into the lexicon of every liberal democratic on Capitol Hill as well as union leaders and “talking head economists" on television.

Now, I freely admit that I’m no John Maynard Keynes nor a Milton Friedman but doesn’t anyone other than me see a fatal flaw in this scenario?

What would be so bad about Greece going belly-up? I’m sure they’d still have ouzo, retsina and feta cheese to sell. Of course, it might mean that the 35% of all Greeks who work for the Athens government might have to forgo their six weeks of paid annual vacation and retirement at age 35 or whatever it is but why should I have to pick up the tab? And that tab is purported to be at least 1 Trillion dollars which, it seems, is Obama’s favorite number.

And yes, I know it’s supposed to be a problem for the countries who switched to the Euro but as they can’t and won’t bail out the Zorbas alone, enter the International Monetary Fund. And guess who is the biggest contributor to the IMF? Why, yours truly of course to the tune of some 20%.

And the bailout of General Motors had nothing to do with that company’s inability to make and sell cars that people actually wanted to buy. But it had everything to do with the United Auto Worker’s sweetheart labor contracts and the fat paychecks the union bosses were addicted to. And they, after all, were a large part of the reason why Obama and his lefties on the Hill became the regime we have today.

Free market capitalism is risky. Competition is risky. If the risk of losing ones shirt is removed from Wall Street, many would argue that this will provide an incentive for Wall Street to engage in more risky behavior and for the “too big to fail” institutions to get even bigger. One need look no further than the so called Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP) for an example of how bailouts make big banks and Wall Street firms bigger.

Don't just take my word for all this: Neil Barofsky, the Special Inspector General for the TARP program was quoted in
CNNMoney.com in saying that,

“After financial institutions threatened the stability of the economy by making irresponsible bets, the government responded by sending them massive infusions of capital. In addition, Treasury gave companies cheap loans to encourage them to buy risky assets like mortgage-backed securities that were a major cause of the credit crisis. The report also notes that “too big to fail” firms only got bigger because of TARP.”

And this is the dirty little secret, the fatal flaw in Obama-era economics.

So if you think this can't happen again, remember who is writing the legislation including one Senator Dodd who got a sweetheart deal from a mortgage company and whose defence was that he didn't understand what he was signing.

Furthermore, can no one see that what happened to General Motors a year or so ago and what is happening in Greece today is precisely the future of these United States while the same idiots in DC including the “Idiot in Chief” continue their policy of print and spend?

Are we too big to fail?

Who will bail us out? The Chinese. Not for much longer.

Pass me the little bottle whose label reads. “Drink Me”.

Or any other bottle for that matter!

Principle before Profit

The hysteria continues around Arizona’s SB1070 and the latest seems to be the United Nations who cannot be expected to comprehend it and the Attorney General of these United States who should.

Six “Special Rapporteurs” of the UN’s Human Rights Council decided that the aforementioned legislation was probably in conflict with several international conventions. Of course they did not specify just what these were and it’s interesting to note that 3 of the 6 are from bastions of civil liberties such as Mexico, Kenya and Pakistan.

Last Sunday, Eric Holder opined that SB1070 “could or possibly could” involve racial profiling. Then yesterday, this same luminary was on the Hill being grilled by a Judiciary Committee and was forced to concede that he hadn’t read it but had “glanced at it”.

Or could it be that he hasn’t read it because he wouldn’t understand it? If this is the case, here is a modern fable that might help him to comprehend the problem and I am indebted to a friend from California for it.

“If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or an airplane flight, and when you got to your assigned seat, and someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would be properly asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, and they would not be able to produce one. They would be called “gate crashers” and they would be properly removed.

Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!

In section AZ, of Stadium USA, we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 sections, and even many in our own section do not want tickets checked, or even be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for so I am going to proudly show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation.
Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon or US Rep. Grijalva? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would proudly do, then you are condoning those illegal activities.”

Now if you would like
to read SB1070 for yourself you can go to the page linked below and there you will find the entire document. It’s not easy reading but, as a Texan reminded Holder yesterday, it’s a helluva lot shorter than the healthcare bill.

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to print out the text, carry it and produce it whenever a bleeding heart liberal unloads on you.

Also let us never forget that the porous border isn't just about Manuel and Rosa working hard to put rice and beans on the table for little Carlita and Carlos. It's about human smuggling. It's about "coyotes" who profit from that traffic. It's about kidnapping and ransom. It's about drug cartels and the attendant violence. It's about murder sometimes by horrific means. Imagine being stripped naked and bound frontally to a saguaro cactus in the Sonoran desert with spines penetrating your eyeballs and being left to die ... eventually.

And speaking of bleeding heart liberals, it’s funny to hear them bemoan the possible commercial impacts on Arizona from SB1070’s implementation.

Aren’t they the group which trumpets the merit of "Principle before Profit"?

The Times They are a Changin .......

It was no coincidence that Karl Marx was Jewish as were several of his collaborators.

And the tradition of liberalism continues to this very day as we can see by the fact that a full 78% of those practicing Judaism as well as those who consider themselves to be culturally Jewish if not religiously observant voted for Obama in 2008.

But not any longer, and no small wonder as we witness the policies of this White House with respect to Israel.

The National Security Adviser, General James Jones is not known as a friend of the Jewish State. It was Jones who put together the team of Brent Scowcroft and Zbigniew Brzezinski to meet with the President and advise him to impose a solution on Israel.

Earlier this week we may have gotten some insight into why Jones is not a fan of the Jewish Homeland. He was giving the keynote speech at a Washington Institute For Near East Policy and started it out with a “Joke” that borders on anti-Semitic, teaching the crowd that Jews are just greedy merchants in the same vein as Shakespeare’s Shylock.

It went like this:

“A Taliban militant gets lost and is wandering around the desert looking for water. He finally arrives at a store run by a Jew and asks for water. The Jewish vendor tells him he doesn’t have any water but can gladly sell him a tie. The Taliban, the jokes goes on, begins to curse and yell at the Jewish storeowner. The Jew, unmoved, offers the rude militant an idea: Beyond the hill, there is a restaurant; they can sell you water. The Taliban keeps cursing and finally leaves toward the hill. An hour later he’s back at the tie store. He walks in and tells the merchant: “Your brother tells me I need a tie to get into the restaurant”.

It is incidents like this as well Obama’s treatment of Prime Minister Netanyahu and his unabashed toadying to the Arab world that have brought about a stunning turnaround where Obama has lost roughly half of his support among Jewish voters.

A poll by McLaughlin and Associates found that, while 78 percent of Jewish voters cast their ballots for Obama, only 42 percent of Jewish voters would vote to re-elect him. A plurality — 46 percent — would consider voting for anyone else. That compares with 21 percent who voted for John McCain.

Ever since he learned of Obama’s ties to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, has been warning fellow Jews that Obama would be antithetical to Jewish interests, not only as they relate to Israel but also to issues that affect all Americans.

Before Obama was elected, Klein, whose organization of 30,000 members is the oldest pro-Israel group in the country, felt like a pariah. Now, as he speaks to Jewish audiences on a weekly basis, he has found that the climate has changed dramatically.“As I speak at synagogues now around the country, I haven’t had a single person during Q and A or after my talk ask how I could be so critical of Obama,” Klein said.

Klein tells his audiences they should not be surprised that Obama’s left-leaning policies appear to tilt more toward the Palestinians than to Israelis. He cites the fact that Obama and his wife, Michelle, spent 20 years listening to Wright, who routinely denounced Israel as a racist state and America for allegedly having created the AIDS virus to kill off blacks. Wright, whom Obama described as a mentor and sounding board, even gave an award for lifetime achievement to Louis Farrakhan.“God damn America,” Wright shouted in one of his sermons.

Obama’s speeches have been “inimical to Israel and supportive of the stream of false Palestinian Arab claims concerning Israel,” Klein says. “He is relentlessly pressuring Israel while applying virtually almost no pressure on the Palestinian Authority to fulfill its written obligations. He is worse than Jimmy Carter was when he was president. It was so obvious if you just looked at Obama’s associations before he was elected. Jews simply ignored that.”

David Remnick’s book “The Bridge: The Life and Rise of Barack Obama” quotes an unidentified campaign aide to Hillary Clinton as saying that, if the stories about Wright’s ties to Obama had appeared in January 2008, “it would have been over,” meaning Hillary would have won the Democratic nomination for president. In fact, those stories on Wright were appearing as early as January 2008 but the mainstream media ignored them and would not pick them up until mid-March.

Before the election, Klein remembers, “If I talked about Reverend Wright in talks at synagogues, they would say I was using guilt by association. I would always explain you can’t say that. He chose this church. He chose to have a friendship with Wright because this is a person he is comfortable with and because Wright espouses views he believes in.”Klein notes, “If a Jew was a member of a synagogue where the rabbi preached hatred of blacks, it would be clear that that Jew would be comfortable with anti-black racism. I couldn’t remain for a week at a synagogue where a rabbi made a hateful speech toward blacks. I’d quit immediately.”But now the tide is turning, Klein says.

As recently as last weekend, “At the synagogue where I spoke, two of my most left-wing lunatic friends were saying, ‘My God, Mort, you were right. I never should have voted for Obama.’”Several Jewish leaders have turned against Obama as well, Klein says, some openly and some behind the scenes because they do not want to cut off ties with a president. Klein quotes one of the most prominent Jewish leaders as having told him recently, “It’s better if I’m on the inside than the outside. So there’s no point in my publicly criticizing him because then I won’t have influence.”

“What influence?” Klein asks rhetorically. “It felt so good to so many liberals to be voting for the first black man to run for president that nothing else mattered,” Klein says. “They felt good proving that they are not racist.”Only 17 percent of Orthodox Jews now would vote to re-elect Obama, according to the McLaughlin poll. Among conservative Jews, 38 percent would vote for him again. Fifty-two percent of reform Jews would re-elect him. Among Jews who have been to Israel, 36 percent now would cast their ballots for him. When polled, 12 percent responded they did not know or refused to answer.

“The majority of Jews now realize that this guy is bad for Israel, let alone bad for America,” Klein says.

And there you have it.

Do you feel lucky punk?

I wasn’t sure if I should talk about Faisal Shahzad of Times Square infamy or not. Eventually though, after another think, I came up with a couple of angles which have one element in common and that one element is stupidity,

Let’s start with Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of New York City, who couldn’t have been more wrong with his predictions.

Well before Mr. Shahzad was identified and arrested the worthy Mr. Bloomberg predicted that the perpetrator of the attempted bombing in Times Square would be “homegrown”, and furthermore that he or she would be “disturbed or deranged”.

These idiocies were voiced in an interview with Katie Couric who agreed with joyful enthusiasm. Buoyed up by this support Mr. Bloomberg waxed even more eloquent leaving no doubt that, in spite of his claims to be a Republican, at best he is a RINO, (Republican In Name Only) and more likely a liberal. Why else would he seek to pin the blame for the terrorist attempt on a “Right Winger with a political agenda possibly because of a dislike of the healthcare legislation”?

What would have really made his day would have been to show a direct link to the Tea Party because that organization seems to be the bete noire of the liberal Left these days. Even Obama himself refers to its members as “Tea Baggers” which is a euphemism for a sexual act which I shall not define but if you’re interested Wikipedia will. What a sophisticated man he is, so urbane and polished.

But back to Mayor Bloomberg and his predictions who said not a word when the bomber turned out to be of Pakistani origin, was trained in that country and was heavily influenced by a cleric called Anwar al-Awlaki and since his arrest at least 8 others have been identified and arrested as well.

Now let’s turn to Faisal Shahzad who is perhaps simply the latest in a succession of stupid terrorists following hard on the heels of the “panty bomber” last Christmas. It can also be argued that the United States has enjoyed an amount of luck which we probably don’t deserve and cannot reasonably expect to continue.

"Yes, we have been lucky," House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (Ohio) said yesterday, "but luck is not an effective strategy for fighting terrorism."

The GOP's criticism has been broader than the questions that have been raised surrounding the circumstances of Shahzad's arrest, such as whether he should have been read his Miranda rights and why he made it aboard an airliner despite being put on the no-fly list earlier in the day.

While the FBI and local authorities deserve some praise, the intelligence agencies have, for the third time since the Fort Hood attack in November, failed to interrupt an individual before the act.

"I look at the Christmas deal," said Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (Calif.), referring to the attempted airliner bombing over Detroit, "and I look at this deal, and I say, 'Wow, one of these times they are going to get it right.' "

"How many times can we count on our enemies' incompetence?" said Rep. Mike Rogers (Mich.), a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee. Rogers contended that the intelligence agencies have curtailed some crucial information-gathering activities of overseas CIA officers, although he declined to specify which, saying it was classified.

Before the Bush Administration left office, Vice President Dick Cheney observed that, “We have to get it right every time. The bad guys have to get it right just once”.

How right he is!

Oh What a Tangled Web ........

In the wake of the passage of SB 1070 in Arizona and the furor it generated in some quarters, it is interesting to note that voters in the state approve of the measure by a 70 to 30% margin and across the country the approval rate is pretty much the same.

Still the Obama regime continues to hammer at it for reasons that are all too easy to discern. Try these on for size.

For a start, it highlights the regime’s failure to secure this nation’s borders and it also makes it even more unlikely that Obama can persuade Congress to pass “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” in the near future.

But just when you think you’ve heard it all something always crops up to confound the belief.

Arizona has enough to contend with in terms of Mexico-generated illegal immigration into this country with the attendant strain on public resources and money but now we find out that we have to confront homegrown "people smuggling" as well.

Just yesterday, Arizona State School Superintendent Tom Horne said that children from the country of Mexico have been crossing the border and have been attending Ajo, Arizona schools for quite some time.

Mexican children have been crossing the border at the Lukeville Port of Entry, and have been boarding buses to take them to school, and Horne has the video to prove it. Not only has this been going on under the nose of the top educator in Arizona, but the Superintendent of Pima County Public schools Linda Arzoumanian knew about it and has let it continue.

On Wednesday, Horne came to Tucson and in a press conference showed the video. He also called on the Pima County Superintendent to account for her lack of oversight.

It is an ever-present complaint from every school district in the country it seems that they have too many kids and not enough money to go round. Well, now we see that is plainly false as this school district was eager to collect the $6000 per student per year. And this per capita endowment has been going on for quite a while and the total runs well into 7 figures.

Your tax dollars at work!

Naturally the State wants its money back and I'm willing to bet the School District won't have it. So then, the state's only recourse would be to deduct the amount from future allocations which would hurt the Arizona students who remain in the system.

Something about the "Law of Unintended Consequences" springs to mind.

Superintendent Horne and the Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard also want legislators to close a loophole through which state money has been going to a Douglas public charter school. Videotape also showed students who live in Agua Prieta, Mexico being driven to the Omega Alpha Academy charter school across the border in Douglas, AZ., despite denials by the school's executive director, Jose Frisby.

With a state wide budget deficit of $1.6 billion, and $141 million cut from public education every dollar counts. "Arizona tax payers can no longer support the cost of educating their own children as well as those from Mexico”, Horne said.

Yer Think?

Open Mouth, Insert Foot ...........

One had only to listen to the “talking heads” news shows yesterday and in the previous week to know that none of the people who are so incensed at Arizona’s SB 1070 which deals with illegal immigration has ever read it.

To see this confirmed, one need look no further than the Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton who appeared on one of these programs. Now it would be reasonable to question where her area of responsibility and the subject in question demonstrates much, if any, congruence. But since when has ignorance stopped a politician from proving it by opening their mouth? Anyway, Hillary opined, and I paraphrase, that if Arizona law enforcement pulled over someone with an accent and even if the person was a legal resident from another state, they’d be required to show proof of their legality. As she understood it she concluded.

Well Hillary, since 1946, Federal immigration law has mandated that all Resident Aliens carry their so-called “Green Card” at all times. And in 1946, the party in power was Democratic with the now much-revered Harry Truman at the helm. How do I know all this? Because I carried one for years until I became a citizen in the mid 80’s.

I am grateful to a friend of mine who is contemplating a run for the Arizona Senate for bringing my attention to the preposterous assertions which follow. I’d tell you my friend's name but I don’t have his permission.

Anyway, one of the first Op-Ed correspondents who swung into the anti-Arizona fray writes for the New York Times and again, the most obvious characteristics were ignorance and stupidity.

He started out like this, “Arizonans, like all Americans, have every right to be furious about Washington’s protracted and bipartisan failure to address the immigration stalemate. To be angry about illegal immigration is hardly tantamount to being a bigot.”

So far so good but common sense would not prevail for very long. “But the Arizona law expressing that anger is bigoted, and in a very particular way. The law dovetails seamlessly with the national 'Take Back America' crusade that has attended the rise of Barack Obama and the accelerating demographic shift our first African-American president represents.”

Would someone please tell me where any valid connection can be made between any provision of the Arizona statute and any one race, nationality or ethnic group? Furthermore, much of the new law was lifted straight out of Federal legislation which was promulgated long before any modern crusade came into being and long before Obama was inflicted on us all.

But he went on, “Officials in at least 10 other states are now teeing up their own new immigration legislation. They are doing so even in un-Arizonan places like Ohio, Missouri, Maryland and Nebraska”.

Again, the writer attempts some amazing leaps of credibility. Does this buffoon really think that the problems being experienced are restricted to the southern border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas? And does he further believe that other states don’t see problems with illegals from Africa and Eastern and Western Europe and Asia as well as Central America?

Then he went on to try to equate the Tea Party with SB 1070 and again I ask, just where is there any evidence of this? Many Arizonans are Caucasian. Some Caucasians belong to the Tea Party. Some Arizonans belong to the Tea Party. Is this enough to prove cause and effect? With that logic in mind, try this: Crows are Birds. Crows are Black. Ergo all Birds are Black.

And I would be remiss were I not to point out that many members of the legal Latino community in Arizona are heartily sick and tired by the violence and drug dealing which they see and hear about every day. They have children and young people too and want to see them grow up safe and healthy and to be able to find work when the time comes.

What then followed may not be the most ridiculous assertion of the whole piece but it’s close. “The angry right and its apologists also keep insisting that race has nothing to do with their political passions. Thus Sarah Palin explained that it’s Obama and the ‘lamestream media’ that are responsible for ‘perpetuating this myth that racial profiling is a part’ of Arizona’s law.”

If it isn’t the New York Times and the Washington Post and MSNBC and CNN et al who are insisting it’s all about “being brown”, then who is it?

From the Governor on down, it has been made clear to law enforcement that any profiling is illegal and so does SB 1070. Furthermore any such activity will be dealt with accordingly and we know that the Feds are looking over Arizona’s shoulder as well because they’ve said so. And they’d just love to shine that spotlight wouldn’t they?

In a rare admission that Obama himself is playing the race card as well as the sex card, the New York Times article concluded with a mention that Obama put up a routine YouTube video calling for the Democratic base to mobilize last week which he defined as “young people, African-Americans, Latinos and women and that the Republican National Committee attacked him for playing the race card”. As well they should because that’s what it is.

Now the clarion call has gone out to the Unions around the country as well as the socialist enclaves of places like San Francisco and Oakland to boycott everything Arizonan. Well, I for one, can get along by baking my own sourdough bread and I can’t think of a darn thing I want from Oakland. And if you’d ever been there, you’d know why.

And the latest attempt is to pull next year’s All Star game from Phoenix. Now that’ll really be popular with Latinos both legal and otherwise who will glean so much income from that event but I’m sure it make perfect sense to liberals.

After all when did they care about people? Ideology is all that matters.

And here is a codicil to this post. The candidate for the Arizona Senate is one Doug Little.
Go get 'em Doug!!

No More Mr. Nice Guy!

I suppose it depends to some extent where one stands on the subject of Obama but it’s obvious from even the most liberally-biased pollster that many, many people who voted for him are getting a little queasy. And it’s not just his push to European-style Socialism but his demeanor as well that has many likely voters switching their allegiance in droves.

From where I sit, Obama simply doesn't deserve the reputation he's had for his style and temperament and for being gracious, civil, bipartisan and post-racial. He is often ungracious, uncivil, hyper-partisan, race-oriented and vindictive. He mocks and ridicules almost for sport. More than any president in my memory, he often does not comport himself like a president.

Why does this matter? Well, if I even have to answer that, he is the face of America. The left constantly talked about George W. Bush's swagger and his cowboy diplomacy and how that damaged our "image" in the world and our relations with other nations.

But George W. Bush was nothing if not circumspect, discreet and respectful in his dealings with foreign leaders and his dealings with his political opponents. He was exceedingly presidential, demonstrating an extremely high respect for the office he held and what it represented.

How the president presents himself does matter for all the obvious reasons, but I believe Obama's behavior and the public's perception of it are relevant for other equally important reasons. He came into office with a reputation for being sophisticated, gentlemanly, above the political fray and open-minded.

But it was a facade, facilitated by good looks, a seemingly pleasant demeanor and an extraordinarily fawning, and forgiving, media. He has been getting a pass on his unseemly conduct for way too long, which partially explains the disconnect between his personal “likability” and the unpopularity of his socialist agenda.

If the public were fully attuned to how “unpresidentially” he has consistently behaved, it wouldn't be nearly as approving of him personally and, in turn, politicians wouldn't be so afraid to call him out on his Machiavellian and brutish behavior. If more people understood this man's actual character they wouldn't, in the face of his consistently highhanded tactics in pushing each and every one of his destructive agenda items, reflexively assume he's such a nice guy who means well. Then, they might be more vigilant, and heaven knows we need mega doses of vigilance these days.

There are several theories about why Obama is consistently getting a pass, beyond the media's corrupt liberalism and the allies he's created through his racial and class warfare, but that's another post for another day. The point for now is that he is getting a pass, and his behavior is increasingly indefensible.

We talk about Obama as a graduate of Saul Alinsky's school of thuggish street agitation, but it is more than just a casual charge. He is Alinsky personified with a disarming smile. It's not just a matter of his having embraced a political strategy that involves hitting below the belt and abusing power to help his friends and hurt his enemies. His behavior is not just a tactic; it's part of who he is. It is apparent that he has been coddled so long that he simply has zero tolerance for any opposition.

Indeed, he is exactly the opposite of who he billed himself to be: "I will bring a new type of politics to Washington." As a committed liberal ideologue, he is neither a “uniter” nor one willing to consider both sides of an issue. But it's not just his extremist views that are divisive. He is also often personally divisive, petty and mean-spirited.

From the time he cavalierly dismissed Hillary Clinton during a presidential debate with "You're likable enough, Hillary," it was clear that some cold blood ran through his veins. As president, he has been gratuitously nasty with people who have dared oppose him, and he has affirmatively targeted and demonized entire industries to advance his agenda.

Consider: his command that "the folks who created the mess" not "do a lot of talking"; his endless “scapegoating” of George Bush; his rude treatment of foreign leaders, from Britain's Gordon Brown to France's Nicolas Sarkozy; his abominable treatment of Israel and its leader, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu; his character assassination of inspector general Gerald Walpin for blowing the whistle on his friends; his demonization of surgeons and primary care physicians as dishonest mercenaries, Republicans as "liars," secured creditors as "speculators," tea partiers as "domestic terrorists," Arizonans as "irresponsible," rural Americans as bitter clingers and America itself as being "dismissive," "arrogant" and "derisive" and as having "a responsibility to act" because it is the only nation to have ever "used a nuclear weapon"; his vilification of Wall Street "fat cat" bankers, big pharma, big oil, insurance companies, big corporations, corporate executives, Cambridge policemen, conservative talk show hosts and Fox News; his snubbing even of the liberal press pool; his egomaniacal behavior at the health care summit; and his administration's flirtation with criminalizing Bush-era officials for their legal opinions.

And the litany grows with every week of this regime.

In the 2008 election, the watchwords were “Hope” and “Change”.

In the 2010 and 2012 contests, I Hope we Change it back.

Somehow I think we will ……….
